Ingredients:

1 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon baking soda

4 cups all-purpose flour

 1 cup sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup butter

1 egg

1 cup raisins (optional)

 

 

Directions:

  1. Lightly grease a cookie sheet. Set oven to 350°.
  2. Mix together sour cream and baking soda.  Set aside.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt.
  4. Cut in butter.  Stir in sour cream mixture and egg until just moistened.  Fold in raisins.
  5. Lightly flour a flat surface.  Knead dough and then roll out to ¾ inch thick circle. 
  6. Cut dough into 12 wedges.  Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until bottoms of scones are golden brown.
