Ingredients:
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup raisins (optional)
Directions:
- Lightly grease a cookie sheet. Set oven to 350°.
- Mix together sour cream and baking soda. Set aside.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Cut in butter. Stir in sour cream mixture and egg until just moistened. Fold in raisins.
- Lightly flour a flat surface. Knead dough and then roll out to ¾ inch thick circle.
- Cut dough into 12 wedges. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until bottoms of scones are golden brown.
