Ingredients:

⅔ cups butter

2 ¼ cups brown sugar (divided)

3 eggs

2 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 medium-large red apples (peeled, cored and chopped)

3 oz block cream cheese

2 oz chopped pecans

1 tsp cinnamon



Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put cream cheese in freezer for an hour.
  2. In large saucepan, melt butter and remove from burner.
  3. Add in 2 cups of brown sugar and mix well. Stir in the eggs, flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla extract and until well mixed. Fold in the apples.
  4. Pour into ungreased pan.
  5. Cut cream cheese into small pieces and mix with ¼ cup of brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of batter in pan.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes and serve warm or at room temperature.
